A visit to Katie Rose Hospice can stir up so many emotions. Love for what all these amazing people are creating, admiration for the volunteers and people giving donations to make it all possible and sadness for the special ones you have loved that have been touched by cancer.
The networking group Handmade In Noosa created by Natasha Wenke paid a visit to Katie Rose to donate some home wares to add some special touches to the home. The donations included a reed diffuser from Noosa Melting Moments, 4 x cushions from Sunny Coast Cushion Sanctuary, handmade ceramic hearts from Wendy Britton Ceramics, a basket of personal care items from Bows and Twine, music therapy from Hurricane Duo.
Carol the coordinator, who is very passionate about her role, was very welcoming to the group and their kind donations. "Donations are always welcome".
The group Handmade In Noosa are very passionate about raising funds and making donations to help others. It's a cause unfortunately that is close to many members hearts from experiencing first hand the effects of cancer, with loved family and friends going through this journey.

They are delicious sweet treat without the indulgence. My children think they are like chocolates. They get excited and feel a bit rebellious as they pop a few in their lunch boxes. Here is the recipe so you can enjoy too.
1 pack Medjool dates pitted 225g
1 cup nuts
1/4 cup cacao
2 tablespoons coconut oil
4 drops Doterra peppermint oil
2 tablespoons of coconut for rolling the balls in
I use my Thermomix but you could use any high powered food processor.
1. Combine dates and nuts and process on speed 8/9.
2. Add cacao, coconut oil, Doterra peppermint oil.
3. Process until it forms a dough consistency.
4. Place coconut on a large plate
5. Roll date mixture into teaspoon full balls and roll in coconut.
6. Place in fridge. They freeze well too.
Enjoy with a great cup of coffee.
Scent with love. Life is better with scents.
Well my favourite thing this Spring is the birth of my new baby girl. She is so beautiful and precious and I feel so happy and blessed. Poor hubby is outnumbered well and truly now! Many of us relate Spring to births and also Spring cleaning. I don't enjoy weekly cleaning, same jobs to complete all the time, and 5 mins for everyone to mess it up again. However Spring cleaning gives me a sense of accomplishing something and makes me feel better. Of course this Spring I have also been lucky to have the extra surge of nesting too, which I still seem to be in that mode even though bub was born 2 weeks a go.
So Spring is great for cleaning, decluttering, using your favourite pieces, "everyday is a special day"! Spend your money on nice things to use rather then decorative pieces that collect dust and you eventually get tired of. Have a favourite scent? Buy a candle in that scent. Want to be reminded of that scent every time you walk into a certain room? Place a reed diffuser close to an open window or where you walk past regular as this creates a breeze and gives you a burst of the scent.
Scent evokes memories, it creates a homeliness and ambience to set the scene of happiness.

Noosa Melting Moments take pride in their products and ensure they use top quality supplies and support local and Australian products. Our scents of course are our number one priority so that you get the best quality scent possible. We use top quality and also make with the highest ratio possible to give you a long lasting and strong scent in all our products.
So here is a bit more in depth info on the scents we source for all our products.
At the head of the Luxaroma scent team is a second generation perfumer who has worked locally in Sydney and in the hub of the fragrance industry for over 20 years. His creative roots lay in the spiritual home of fragrance, France, where his father trained to be a perfumer. He now has over 55 years of combined history in supplying & creating the best quality fragrance and has quickly become a leader in candle fragrances.
All scents are Handcrafted in Australia. They are formulated to the highest Australian standard. Luxaroma’s Australian hand crafted products are regarded worldwide as superior. Fragrance has the power to evoke emotion and memory.
Inspired by our landscape our fragrances capture the soft ocean breeze of Byron Bay, the clear blue skies of the Whitsundays, vibrant foliage of Tasmania’s big tree forests and our vast fertile bushlands. The experience of the earth, ocean, bush and sky are a core part of our formulation strategy and they pride themselves on the purity, clarity of fragrance and the concentration of Australian made formulas.
At the time I wondered what possessed me to say such a statement! To paint the picture we are sitting in my Handmade In Noosa network meeting on the beautiful Noosa river, soaking up the sun with a great bunch of dynamic home based business women. Oh and yes that's right Soy Wax Candles is one of my main products I make and sell!
So perhaps if we step back and put my comment into context of my own thought processes. (remember I am very pregnant). It was because I am a perfectionist, lacking time, dislike pressure, recovering from a month of sickness and had just spent the last couple of days making a huge batch of bespoke glass candles for another local business.
Due to it being winter, which for us is still a delightful 20 degrees! However these precious candles like the studio room heated really hot consistently so that they then set perfectly and don't crack. Did I mention I also have an internal baby bump heater! However, despite all this when they were all completed and checked my feelings moved to being happy and proud. I can't wait to see some photos of them in people's beautiful homes.
I love the ambiance, the glow, the scent and the peacefulness that candles create in a home, work space and day spas. What a treat for everybody.

Now the only choice left is, will I get the scent in a reed diffuser, soy candle or soy melts, or perhaps one of each to layer the scents? Perfume for your home.
At the time of this outing and initial post, the past 7 weeks had been an emotional time for me and although I try to be strong the cracks had started to show. However I am a doer and we get one life and I want to make the most of mine as a strong and happy woman and Mum. So when troubled times happen in your life and you need to survive it can make you feel like change is needed. The beginning of this particular self discovery journey began with the start of a yoga pregnancy class with my sister at Fit For Birth with Karen. I was feeling tired and couldn't be bothered but still went. After the class I felt amazing and energised. Karen had books to borrow one of my favourites was spotted 'You Sexy Mother' and beckoned me to borrow it. I read the whole book in a week and I am now doing the 10 day turn around plan. You can read all you like but you have to implement ideas and change, to move forward in your journey. I will share my turnaround plan in separate blogs.
So this particular Work From Home day begun with an early visit with my 2 girls to the school dental van. Then off to school and Kindy. I had already decided last night that I would not come straight home and work like I usually do but instead treat myself to a walk plus coffee and cake first! (30 weeks pregnant)!
There was the huge temptation to change my mind and just get everything done! Crazy! I stayed strong for me, and went for a walk.
I am so lucky to also live in paradise! My rather large baby bump was struggling to make it up the hill but bit by bit we travelled on, looking for the reward. Very much like any goal in our life big or small.
The reward was the amazing feeling and view at the top of the lookout. Just magic.
Then came my reward, just for me! I grabbed a coffee and cake from one of my favourite Cafes 10 Hastings st and went to the beach to savior every morsel and began writing my blog in my beach office today. What a refreshing way to start the day, look after yourself, feel energised and once again become productive.
Then it was time to get back home and into the rest of my tasks.
My business involves, product making, marketing and selling for Noosa Melting Moments. Computer personal assistant job for The Chartist and networking business with Handmade In Noosa. I love it all. It uses my creativity, skills and passions, but best of all I can work from home, the beach a cafe. Have a morning off and do it at night. I can fund my coffee and cake habit! Oh and my new car! I can attend my girls events and play dates. I can spend precious time with my daughter on her non Kindy days and now I get to have another baby to cherish my love on and show that life is about balance, trial and error, failures and successes.
The last week has been a big wake up call and reality check for me as a person, Mum and Business Owner. It all began with getting sick which I continued to try and power through but progressively got worse. Plus being 31 weeks pregnant didn't help either. So eventually my body said enough is enough and I have had to rest as I was incapable of doing anything but this. So at times like this I moved through different emotions from frustration, ( a lot of frustration!), sadness, sleep to the realisation to how good my life is when I'm well and have and can do all the things I do. I realised how much I actually do achieve even though we tell ourselves there is not enough time in the day. I also realised I need to be more adaptable to change in routine and plans and allow more breathing space in my weekly planner. As Mums our job never ends and we need to be able to still operate with love, kindness and patience. This goes back to our life balance and keeping it in sync the best we can. So next time the negative talk starts in your head turn it around to all the positives, probably the things you would say to others if they confided all their troubles and concerns to you. Today I am going to be thankful for being home with my Miss 5 with very little on our agenda except playing and resting. Tomorrow I look forward to feeling a bit better and brighter and achieve something small.
Who loves that feeling when visitors come over and say how beautiful your house smells? I know I do. I also feel very proud that I made them and my home is inviting. We can often as Mum's feel like we can’t spend too much money on a luxury item for ourselves! However, often if you outlay more initially you will save in the long term. This is true for good quality Soy Wax Candles versus cheap Paraffin Wax Candles. Soy Wax Candles will burn for a longer time and give off a stronger scent throw, better for the environment and your health.
Ok, so you have made the choice to buy a gorgeous good quality Soy Wax Candle. So now how do you take good care of it and make it last without wasting a drop of soy wax and fragrance. The answer is easy once you know how, remember to teach your loved ones in your household too.
Here are some great tips to achieve this:
So now you have all these great tips, sit back relax in your favourite way, light your candle and enjoy your beautifully scented home.

Mindfulness seems to be in trend and a bit of a focus of late. The concept seemed untouchable to me in the beginning. So I did an app search to help me in my self discovery, as one does in this technology based world. I was pleasantly surprised and grateful when I discovered an app called Headspace. I started off with the free 10 days and enjoyed the quiet time for 10 minutes a day however I was amazed how often I drifted off and lost focus. Staying in the moment was clearly not a strong quality of mine and one I felt like I needed to work on. I speak from being a mum with an 8 year old, almost 5 year old and a baby on the way. So I am thinking how is this possible when you always have to be on the ball and one step forward to be on top of everything. Or do I? I suppose that is the question of my new discovery. So for the first time I decided to pay money for a yearly subscription to an app and further my journey with Headspace. I figured an investment in myself could be the best for my self personally, my family and my business. I am up to day 27 and getting better at focusing and trying to be in the present moment. Being in the present moment is enjoyable, time doesn't seem to go as fast, better connections with others made and clearer thoughts. So I encourage you to give it a go in a style that suits you.
Perhaps as your driving in the car think about the process not the destination. I did this yesterday in my new car, as I needed to get use to everything. I enjoyed the drive. Miss almost 5 enjoyed the drive looking around. We were both calm, completed tasks on our journey and arrived in plenty of time without being in a rush. A big contrast from some other car trips etched in my memory.
It can be finding a peaceful spot at home, light a soy wax candle or your oil burner with your favourite soy wax melt. Choose a scent that makes you happy and calm, one that provides good memories.
So give it a go and I would love to hear your experiences, add them in the comments section. They might be about your struggles or your successes.
